There was an air of excitement around the main arena this morning, as we prepared for the thrills of cross country day....it didn’t disappoint!
Today’s update...
CCI3*
Time was a factor in this class today, with only three of the riders who completed, doing so clear and within the optimum time. Clare Abbott (IRL - Euro Prince – 43.8), Oliver Townend (GBR – Skyhills Cavalier – 47.6 and Sam Watson (IRL – Horseware Lukeswell – 57.0) have all moved up a place to lie 1st-3rd respectively heading into tomorrow’s showjumping phase. Less than 4 penalites separate Clare from Oliver, so she’ll be hoping those coloured poles behave tomorrow!
CIC3*
Great Britain’s Izzy Taylor was the only rider to pass the finish line within the optimum time so she moves up a place to take the lead, on 47.8, with Thistledown Poposki. Oliver Townend also moves up a place, to 2nd, with a score of 50.4 (Dunbeau). These two British riders have less than a fence between them too, so...no pressure guys! Joseph Murphy and Sportsfield Othello jumped (!) from 7th to 3rd place today and go into the arena tomorrow on a score of 55.0
CIC2*
Time penalties today have moved yesterday’s top 3 down the leaderboard so new faces at the top tonight and with less than 4 penalites between them, this is going to be fun to watch tomorrow! So...the standings overnight are:
Susie Berry (IRL) – 46.3 – Bolero de Ste Hermelle
Lucy Latta (IRL) – 48.0 – DHI Broadway
Ciaran Glynn (IRL) – 48.1 – November Night
CCIJ1*
An unlucky fall and elimination for Yasmin Ingham today moves Charlotte Dixon and Shadow Light (36.6) into the top spot after cross country. The have 2 fences in hand – a nice place to be on the final day! Cathal Daniels is in 2nd place, on 48.4 with RLE Fugitive and Nessa Briody moves into 3rd place, with Kilnantic Brownie on a score of 50.0
CCI1*P
The top 3 riders were clear but picked up time penalties today. The placings are unchanged, so Lucy Hancock and Corries Whiskey are on 53.5 but close behind are Jessica Kuehnle and Fernhill Ruby on 57.2. Lying 3rd overnight, on 63.7, it’s Caoimhe Eivers and Wilderwood Storm.
Michael Leonard Memorial Championship
This class were first out cross country this morning and they showjumped this evening so our first set of final results! Michael Ryan took the honours with She’s My Master, to finish on his dressage score of 30.3. Gavin Smiddy (Readstown Frankie) and Patrick Byrne (BGS Class Affair) both had a pole down in the showjumping arena and finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. Congratulations!
