Welcome to our Day One update!
Dressage got underway at 3pm for the CCI classes and, although the weather was “soft” for the earlier riders, we did see some sunshine and are hoping for a bit more tomorrow!
There was one downpour, just before 3pm, so the dressage guinea pigs did get soaked through. All three rode lovely tests and came out of the arenas smiling, despite the rain, so a huge thank you goes out to Susan, Ana- Maria and Becky this evening!
The CCI classes are next in action on Sunday for cross country, so good luck to all of you!
These classes show-jump on Monday, so we’ll have a bit of a wait for final results....
In the meantime, we have lots of action tomorrow, with dressage and showjumping for the CIC classes, so do come and visit!
Results update – Friday
CCI3*
The British riders have made the journey worthwhile so far, taking 5 of the top 6 places overnight. Emily Gilruth and Topwood Beau certainly impressed the judges today, scoring 46.1 to take the lead. Kirsty Johnson finished on 50.7, with Opposition Detective to claim 2nd place and Ben Johnson is close behind in 3rd, with It’s Just Jazz (52.4).
Our Italian rider, Giovanni Ugolotti, also did well today, taking the 4th slot, on a score of 53.8, with Oplitas.
Irish hopes in this class rest with Joseph Murphy (58.0, DHI Top Story) and Michael Ryan (59.0, Dunlough Striker). These two could find their way around Ballindenisk in their sleep, so we’re sure they’ll shake things up on Sunday!
CCI2*
Oliver Townend, a regular visitor to Ballindenisk, had a good day today, finishing in the top spot with Mr. HiHo (34.2) and taking 4th place too, with Mr. Note Worthy (42.7). Piggy French (GBR) is in 2nd place with Obos Cooley (38.6) and Ireland’s Aoife Clark lies 3rd overnight, with Wasting Light (41.3). If all goes according to plan on Sunday for Oliver and Piggy, Oliver will have a fence in hand going into the showjumping phase....but a lot can happen on cross country day so we wouldn’t be placing any bets just yet!
CCI1*
Three British riders top this leader board overnight. Piggy French did another very nice test today to take the top spot overnight, with Morswood and a score of 36.8. Kylie Roddy lies 2nd, with Guzzi (40.8) and Oliver Townend is 3rd, with Peruising (45.0). Best of the Irish is Conor Maguire, who’s in 4th place on 46.3, with Derroon Wood.
Hope you all have fun out there on Sunday!
